We finally had our backyard landscaping installed this summer. Due to the heat (and lack of funds) we did not put it in last year when we put in our pool.
There was a GINORMOUS house built behind our house which spurred us to put in the pool a year earlier than we had planned. They knocked down many a tree to build that house. It left us with an awesome (sarcasm) view of their roof line. We REALLY needed a landscaping distraction from it. But remember, our landscaping is in the “baby” stages at this point.
Our fence was also in bad need of being stained.

And introducing…..Wilbur!
Who might that be? Well our new pool storage shed of course.
We got a notice from our HOA that the shed did not follow the HOA guidelines. So we were “summoned” to a hearing at the local library. Half way through the meeting, the president of the HOA’s wife went on a 5 or so minute rant on our horribly ugly shed that she wants us to remove. At one point she said (and I quote) “You can put lipstick on a pig, but at the end of the day, it is still a pig!” (Thanks Sara Palin.)
So…after much thought, I named our shed Wilbur…as in Charlotte’s Web’s Wilbur.
A pig that some people want destroyed!
I have thoughts of erecting a fake spider web that says, “Some Shed”.
The “lipstick” that the woman was referring to was the landscaping that we put up to make the shed less noticeable as you passed our house.
Here is the before of the side of our house from the front yard:

Come next fall when those 3 trees and bushes have grown larger and the vines have covered our iron fences, Wilbur will look beautiful in his lipstick. Which we are hoping will keep him alive and kicking. :)
